Summer’s over and it’s back-to-school time! And as we all know, learning really can be fun. So come along on Monday, September 10 and let these authors school you.

Ned Beauman with his second book, The Teleportation Accident (longlisted for the Booker at the moment, thank you very much!). He’s no TBSH rookie either – you may remember his last appearance as the time we had the place at double capacity. Fire safety be damned.

Cathi Unsworth reading from Weirdo. She’s another TBSH sophomore, and knocked our socks off last time with a reading timed to a piece of creepy-as-hell noir-ish music.

Suzy Joinson reading from A Lady Cyclist’s Guide to Kashgar. The New York Times called it ‘ an impressive debut, its prose as lucid and deep as a mountain lake’ which, as you should have learned in geography, are very clear and deep indeed.

Lauren Elkin reading from A Year In Venice, which was published this year in France as Une Année à Venise and which features ‘amours clandestines et énigmes cabalistiques’, which would even sound sexy and exciting in English.

So we’ll see you on Monday, September 10, at the Alley Cat on 4 Denmark Street in Soho, WC2H 8LP. Free entry as always; roll call from 7:30; uniform not required.
